And if you haven't seen it, there's a new politically-charged, "streets is real" edition of the Wassup commercial. Definitely not as strong as the grannies/Superfriends versions.
Some posts can be like the 'Hoff doing a Baconator after hours - slow, difficult, and you sort of lose your appetite halfway through. I was working on this one back in June to showcase Diplo as the classy international tastemaker that he is (obvs), including the sample lineage of a few joints such as Ronnie Foster's "Mystic Brew" (Ronnie>Tribe>Madlib>Diplo) and Marlena Shaw's "California Soul" as it weaves through DJ Premier in the 90s and back to Dip in 2K times. But that was more than two months ago, so, FAIL. Enjoy these at least.
Dan Deacon sits on the e-couch with Pitchfork Masterblog to discuss the way his music/scene has been potrayed in media + blogz, and more importantly, how he's taking it up a notch for DD 2.0 (titled Bromst and slated for this fall) with reduced woody woodpeckers and enhanced live instrumentation. This is a relief; homey's a classically-trained musician and we all know he has many, many more tricks up in those sweaty sleeves. Taste some of the new juice tomorrow night when he and Diplo hit Sonar. This night will be full of ridiculous, senseless shenanigans, and you might be going for free (contest is over).

So hard to keep up with the Bmore kids these days, what with 16-year-old Rye Rye touring with (and sometimes upstaging) M.I.A. and spitting over beats from Mad Decent mentors Diplo and Blaqstarr.
Wall to wall freakout and musical revelations. These dudes produced most of MIA's Kala by the way, along with tracks and remixes for the who's who of dancefloor bird flu filth including Spank Rock, Bonde do Role and Simian Mobile Disco. This is the last stop on a tour that's been dropping pants and emptying crates across the states for two weeks. We also hear there's an afterparty from 2am-6am thrown by Stretch and Cobra Krames, not sure about the location yet but we're hoping it's Never on Sunday. Everybody seen the leprechaun say yeah!
