Be Thankful For What You've Got

The economy is making people act a fool, a BT staffer just saw an old guy get hit by a cab, and even though it's raining the falafel cart line is still really long. WTF.

We need to be thankful for what we've got people - and that starts with appreciating your beats; particularly William DeVaughn's 1974 classic and its varied offspring. Massive Attack covered it in 1991 and Ludacris mangled it in 2004, but neither compares to the super-dubbed Lee "Scratch" Perry/Upsetters version or Yo La's thumping platitude of gratitude.

Butter Team Weekend Beats Vol. 24

Ever check a blog from another blog's blogroll and find that blogger is no longer blogging? It's really scary, because you wonder what happened. Maybe they disappeared in the land of frowny orange oompahs?

Until we get bored or busy, we promise to remain crescenfresher than a pair of Nike Lobster Dunks, which come with rubber bands on the toe, a tablecloth pattern on the inside and butter-colored laces.

This weekend starts off with the refreshingly underrated Air France from Gothenburg, Sweden, the closest you're going to get this year to a brand new Avalanches LP. AF uses about 10,000 fewer samples while still mainlining the subconscious undercurrent of every beautiful moment you've ever had or dreamed, symphonic vinyl crackles and faded polaroids, bam. We've had No Way Down on repeat for a few weeks, the digi version is definitely worth buying for $5.

Also funny how in February late-night headphone play was almost exclusively reserved for The Zombies, and here we are in June and nothing's changed.

Bonus retro rooftop bangers from Jaques Dutronc and The Bobby Hughes Experience whilst Yo La digs the scene with a mean gangsta lean.
